Hypersensitivity to noise is common in autism. I can't even tell you how many students I have had over the years who cover or plug their ears. Noise-blocking headphones can help! The Snug brand is my top choice. I love that they are “kid-size”, and come in different colors. When the headphones fit correctly, children will tolerate wearing them better.  Click here to download the Wearing Headphones story for children.  Read this blog post about self regulation for 5 tips to help!

Thank you for this story- do you have a story or visuals to help teach a child to move away from a child making noises? A child that isn’t noise sensitive to other loud noises, but is upset when another child is being loud.
