COVID-19 Related Stories For Schools

· ·

More and more states and cities have put together plans for going back to school for the 2020-2021 school year.  Each area in the country has somewhat different plans.  Some are starting out with 100% distance learning, some are implementing a hybrid model and others are going back to in person learning with modifications.  As we start to go back, using any of those approaches, children are going to need INFORMATION.  What will they see that is different?  What are the new norms?  Are masks required?  What about on the bus?

As humans, we all thrive on routine.  Children’s (and adults) routines have been disrupted over these past several months.  Stories can help ALL children understand what is going on around them.  Information about their new routines can reduce anxiety and fear.  This will lead to smoother transitions into the new routine.

I’ve listed all of the COVID-19 stories that relate to schools here for easier access for parents and educators.  When I write more stories that pertain to school, I will add them to this list.  I wish you all well as we embark on this new school year.  Stay well!

  19. Thank you so much for these great stories, they are fabulous! I wanted to ask your permission to read the story, Wearing A mask To School, aloud and have it recorded and/or make a video model to go along with your story so it could be shared to families and assist with the transition. We are also hoping to use the "YES, I need to wear a mask" "No, I don't need to wear a mask" visuals for some our kiddos who will need that visually communicated. They are great! I would never take the credit for such great stories and visuals, but wanted to make sure you are okay with it. Thank you again!

  25. These (as mentioned by so many) are just amazing! I intend to read and make each book with a primary community class. Tara, are there versions of these that are uncoloured? I ask as I would love to make a copy for each student (5) and after we read the book they could colour their own version. If not I could try to print black and white, and just used bright markers where possible. Great Stuff!!! Andrew

  26. Hi from Malaysia. Thank you so much for this amazing learning tool. As most of the children communicate in English, majority use Malaysian language. Can we translate these & use your graphics & content?
